Course Aim:
The Aim of this course is to provide Safety Officers with a wide range of realistic training experiences involving effective Confined Space Supervision as required by the Confined Space Regs 1997 and HSE ACOPS 1 & 2.
Course Covers:
At the end of the course, participants will have been trained in the following areas enabling them to safely supervise a Confined Space Entry:
- Task Analysis,
- Risk Assessment Methods;
- Safe Systems of Work;
- Emergency Procedures;
- Gas testing Techniques;
- Ventilation;
- Safe Entry;
- Top Man & Safety Supervisor Duties;
- Rescue Procedures & Emergency Response;
- Recording & Supervising;
- Training Requirements; and
- Permits to Work/
Ideally Participants will be / have:
- Any member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
- All members of any Management Team or who have a role in any safety or supervisory
- Any Emergency Response Professionals, Team Leaders and Supervisors, any Confined Space team members or trainers who need to improve their supervisory
Duration & Format:
3 day course. Using theory and practical sessions, our highly experienced trainer will start with basic principles, requiring interaction and discussion with the delegates. The course is presented in a highly participative format with both theory presentations, desktop and practical exercises based on confined space actual incidents which test the delegate in:
- Definition of a Confined Space;
- Confined Space Hazards;
- Task Analysis;
- Risk Assessment;
- Safe Systems of work;
- Emergency Procedures;
- Key people duties;
- Gas testing procedures;
- Ventilation;
- Confined Space Equipment;
- Safe Entry and Top man duties;
- Rescue and emergency response;
- Recording and Supervising;
- Training of Personnel;
- Decontamination of Staff and Equipment;
- Dealing with Hazardous Materials; and
- Evacuation Procedures/ snatch rescues/ liaison and
Involving actual Incident case studies, discussions and interactive analyses will ensure that the course content is both engaging and interesting.
