Bespoke training packages

To deliver the apprentices your business needs

Research shows that hiring an apprentice increases overall employee productivity and ensures a committed and competent workforce.

The Engineering College specialises in creating bespoke training packages to deliver the apprentices your business needs, delivering industry-ready specific skills. Fully trained to industry standards and regulations, apprentices help fill the skills gap in your current workforce.

Engineers training engineers

Our staff live and breathe the industry. 90% of our tutors have come from the engineering sector – they are trained engineers first; have run their own businesses and worked all over the world before retraining as tutors. They know what’s expected in the workplace and can relay that to our apprentices, pushing for standards, rather than just qualifications.

We carry out 12 week reviews with our learners, inviting companies in to review progress and make sure their learning environment and skills closely replicate your working environment. You’ll have the opportunity to tailor training to match your needs and develop specific skills, bringing real world experience into the workshop.

All of our courses and apprenticeships are designed to be responsive to your needs. Fully flexible, you’ll work with a designated point of contact, on hand to advise and facilitate you requirements.

Our long-term working partners

Cammell Laird has a strong partnership with The Engineering College for apprentice recruitment and training which has been in existence since 1998. During that time, the college has helped us to deliver an exceptionally talented and dynamic workforce with a significantly lower age profile. More than 100 apprentices have successfully joined the programme during the last five years and 50 per cent of these have graduated into qualified tradesmen who are now fully operational in the organisation. Cammell Laird recognises apprenticeship training as a sound investment, the best and most cost-efficient way of putting the building blocks in place to take the business forward and grow not just tradesmen but managers and directors of the future.

Knowledge of funding and industry

Our Medical Engineering Department heard about The Engineering College through our Learning and Development Department. We were faced with the option of taking our apprentices to a few training providers in Merseyside, and were drawn to The Engineering College for their broad range of clients across a number of industries, and their understanding of different funding mechanisms available to employers.

We’ve received no end in support for the BTEC qualifications.

The support that The Engineering College have provided our team in recruitment and selection, especially in sifting for the best candidates has been fantastic.

Apprenticeship recruitment specialist

The college have been really good with the recruitment element of training; they sifted through 170 applications and gave us 12 of the best, from this we had interview days and activity days and selected 3; we believe that the college are experts at this, so why wouldn’t we ask them to handle our recruitment.

We’re pleased with how enthusiastic all of the team are, they’ve really helped Merseyrail and can’t do enough for us. We’d certainly want to continue work with the college.

Attitude and approach to learning is great

We recruited six learners in September this year, and honestly, they are probably the best we have recruited in a long time. Their attitude and approach to learning is great. They’re as good as gold.

We can’t fault the support from the college, it’s why we keep coming back. All the staff are really helpful; we had a couple of issues a few weeks back around the Outward Bound Trip and the management team were able to drop everything and solve it, you can’t fault the support.
