PRE-APPRENTICESHIPS

What is a Traineeship?

A Traineeship is a programme that offers real-life work experience and engineering theory, in order to help you pursue a career in engineering. Our Traineeship Programme acts as a natural feeder programme to apprenticeships. This course is eligible for 16-18 year-olds.

Traineeships can run for up to six months, and whilst on the programme, you will develop your functional skills knowledge in Maths, English and ICT, and develop an appreciation for the world of Engineering!

We work with a multitude of sectors, including construction, marine engineering, medical engineering, oil and gas, and manufacturing. Our Traineeship Programme also offers a ‘round-robin’ of engineering disciplines, so you can try your hand at electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, drawing, electronics and fabrication.

Another unique aspect of this course is the work experience placement opportunity available when you develop through your Traineeship.

What are the benefits?

Traineeships are now a well-established and highly recognised programme in the UK, with more and more employers recognising the benefits it brings. Many companies in the engineering and manufacturing sectors are looking to hire experienced young apprentices- which are not always easy to find.

With a traineeship behind you, you are more likely to be confident within a workshop and you will have already had a taste of basic engineering.

Traineeships are an ideal opportunity for young people, aged 16 to 18, who are motivated to get a job but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for. Those who have been unsuccessful when applying for an apprenticeship or other job due to a lack of skills and experience are most likely be good candidates for a Traineeship.
