Coded Welding Testing – ASME IX/ BSEN ISO 9606

Description

The Engineering College are now fully accredited as an approved TWI (The Welding Institute) Training Centre, meaning we can carry out our own inspections of test pieces. Our tutors are TWI certified to carry out training and examination of the test pieces.

Coded Welding Testing – ASME IX / BS EN ISO 9606

This international coding standard is suitable for pressure vessels, pressure pipe work and other critical applications such as bridges and some structural steel work applications.

These test are carried out in accordance with welding standard ASME IX or BS EN 9606 and are usually subject to volumetric inspection such as radiography or ultrasonic examination.

Depending on particular weld configuration, each test can cover a range of welding variables e.g. material thickness and welding positions

Welder coding certificates must be signed every 6 months by a suitably qualified person to confirm the welder is still producing welds of the required standard and are formally re-tested at least every two years.

Duration

1 Day (Test only)

If additional training is required to get to ASME IX / BS EN ISO 9606 standard, additional training days will be required.

Cost

Each candidate is required to attend an assessment day prior to testing to ensure the candidate is at the required level. Cost for the assessment day is £175.00 + VAT – half of this amount will be deducted from the total price of testing.

Price per test £500.00 + VAT depending on test taken

*Additional material costs may be applied dependent on training/test taking place.

Our welding instructors can also test to a variety of other standards, please enquire for further information
