There is an excellent opportunity to join the successful team at The Engineering College delivering a high quality learning experience to Young Engineers, ensuring they reach their maximum educational and developmental potential.

We are currently looking to appoint a Level 3/4 tutor in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering to teach workshop practical sessions.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the successful team at The Engineering College delivering a high quality learning experience to engineers, ensuring they reach their maximum educational and developmental potential.

Prior teaching expertise is not required, candidates that have good experience and underpinning engineering knowledge will be given relevant training and CPD to help fulfill the role of a tutor, which includes enrolment onto the Engineering College’s Teacher Training CPD scheme.

If you have previously completed at least a level 3 qualification in engineering and are passionate about inspiring people into engineering, this is an excellent opportunity to join our team, helping students to reach their maximum educational and developmental potential. There is currently one vacancy for someone who has a background and qualification in Mechanical Maintenance.

Candidates must have the following skills / attributes:

  • To be technically qualified in the relevant skill area
  • Experience in the engineering manufacturing/ engineering construction sectors
  • Genuinely looking to switch to a real and worthwhile career in technical training for industry
  • A real interest in working with young and aspiring engineering students
  • Good practical skills
  • Awareness and knowledge of health and safety in a workshop environment
  • Able to motivate and inspire

Chosen candidate/s will be given training and CPD to help fulfill the role which includes enrolment onto the Engineering College’s Teacher Training CPD scheme.

These roles are also suitable for ex-service personnel from a technical/ engineering background.

The role is very diverse and covers a number of different elements, including:

  • Teaching, Learning and Assessment: delivery of practical and theory sessions to meet the requirements of the business, the planning of lessons and learning plans effectively, making use of resources and curriculum.
  • Verification: maintain all records and work-pieces, track progress for each student in your designated group/s and carry out essential marking for assessments.
  • Learner Reviews: work within the team to develop and regularly update learner ‘off-the-job’ learning plans in conjunction with the learner/s. Work within the relevant team to contribute timely information to the individual’s ‘training officer’ to support with performance reviews
  • Learner Support: ‘first line’ academic and pastoral support, support the team in identifying any high or additional needs students, etc
  • Technical & Administration: identifying opportunities for CPD, improving competency, fulfilling ESFA requirements regarding tracking attendance. support with recruitment and promotion of the brand.

Additional team responsibilities are shared within the organisation, including ensuring high quality health and safety provision, support and promotion of Equality and Diversity within this industry and safeguarding.

Apprenticeship Mentors

We are currently looking to appoint an Apprenticeship Mentor.

If you have previously completed at least a level 3 qualification in engineering and are passionate about inspiring people into engineering, this is an excellent opportunity to join our team, helping students to reach their maximum educational and developmental potential.

There is currently one vacancy for someone who has a background and qualification in Mechanical Maintenance, however if you have a different engineering trade and think you would be good in an Apprentice Mentor role, you can still send an application to our team.

Candidates must have the following skills / attributes:

  • To be technically qualified in the relevant skill area (to level 3)
  • Experience in the engineering manufacturing/ engineering construction sectors
  • Genuinely looking to switch to a real and worthwhile career in technical training for industry
  • A real interest in working with young and aspiring engineering students
  • A level of organisation to support learners through their own programme
  • A good level of IT literacy
  • An ability to work with young students
  • An ability to communicate with employers

The successful candidate will be given relevant training for this role which includes working with students and employers.

These roles are also suitable for ex-service personnel from a technical/ engineering background.

The role is very diverse and covers a number of different elements, including:

  • Teaching, Learning and Assessment: supporting on the delivery of knowledge, skills and behaviour, particularly externally when visiting the apprentice in their company but also at times within the college environment when skills sessions are needed
  • Verification: track and ensure progress of apprentices against their apprenticeship standard is timely or better than timely and support the apprentice through End Point Assessment or Gateway
  • Learner Reviews: work with and provide support to a caseload of apprentices and their employers
  • Learner Support: ‘first line’ academic and pastoral support, support the team in identifying any high or additional needs students and working with the employer to address any concerns that may hinder the apprentice in achieving their programme
  • Technical & Administration: identifying opportunities for CPD, improving competency, fulfilling ESFA requirements regarding tracking attendance. support with recruitment and promotion of the brand.
  • Employer Support: as the first line of contact for employers, you will also work closely with recruitment, funding and marketing departments to provide support to employers and uphold the quality and value of the employers member service to be rolled out in Summer 2021
